The Cottonwood House site will be open for day-use, picnic, and walking trails only, for the 2021 season.


Cottonwood House Historic Site is located 26 kilometers east of Quesnel on the Barkerville Highway (Hwy. 26) at 4460 Barkerville Highway Quesnel, British Columbia, Canada V2J 6T8

Central Mountain Air makes daily flights into Quesnel, and Greyhound also provides daily bus service to Quesnel.

National Car Rental provides car rental services from Prince George and Williams Lake.

Air Canada and Westjet both offer frequent flights to Prince George, 2.5-3 hours north of Cottonwood House.

What to Bring

The North Cariboo region can have unpredictable weather so it is important to dress for varying weather conditions.

If you are staying overnight be sure to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and toiletries.

If you have allergies, be sure to pack medication. Bug spray, sunscreen, and an umbrella are recommended.

Trip Tips

Day trip – allow at least 1 hour for a guided tour and to explore the buildings and gift shop.
